A popular machine found on many construction sites is the Hitachi ZX200,
so it is no surprise that a very nice model of the Dash 7 version has
been released, replicated in 1:50th scale and packing plenty of detail
and realism. The tracked undercarriage has individually linked metal
trackpads that rotate freely and surface casting detail of the rollers
and access steps on the track frames. The cabin has a door which can be
opened by 90 degrees to get a clear look at the fully modelled interior
with nothing left to the imagination. A hinged upper engine panel can be
opened to reveal more nice detailing, this time of the engine block,
exhaust silencer and cooling equipment inside the engine bay. The raised
hydraulic lines on the boom add to the realism, as do the armoured
hoses while the bucket is mounted using small screws, so can be detached
and replaced with other attachments if desired.
