HORNBY R1281S Red Rover Electric Model Train Set - OO GAUGE DCC READY

The last time that a Hornby train set was introduced that included a large diesel locomotive was in 2007. That set, the R1092 City Freight set included a Co-Co Class 55 Deltic, four freight wagons and a brake van, which made up an interesting set. In the 21st century the railways' role in moving freight has never been greater. In a world all about reducing emissions the railways efficiency is unparalleled. The variety of freight hauled on the railways today ranges from raw materials uséd in manufacturing, to finished consumer goods as well as fuel for power stations and vehicles. This Train Set depicts a powerful modern diesel locomotive and wagons uséd to transport crucial supplies to eagerly waiting customers across the country.

In 2022 we are seeing a release of a comparable set, the ‘Red Rover’. This set includes a DB Schenker liveried Bo-Bo Class 67 as well as a container wagon, a tanker and a bogie tippler wagon. This is an era 11 set, with the stock included being of the type that can still be seen on the UK’s main line rails to this day. The set includes a standard third radius oval with Track Pack A which also includes a siding. This track circuit can easily be enlarged with the addition of Track Pack B through to Track Pack F.

The Class 67 has proved to be a popular model, with its frequent appearances hauling freight in service in many different liveries allowing us to create a litany of different guises to satisfy any modern modeller.
